COVID Response Interviewer (LTE)
Location: Health Dept WR
FT/PT: Seasonal/Limited Term Employee (LTE)
Deadline to apply: 10/11/2020
Hiring Range: $23/hr to $25/hr
Job Responsibilities:
LTE: Limited Term Employment
These positions will be remote work for COVID response.
Positions will remain open until filled.
Purpose of Position
This COVID Response Interviewer will use a computer program and phones to conduct positive case disease investigations and/or call all contacts of anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 to document a symptom check, refer them for testing according to established protocols, and provide them with instructions for isolation or quarantine. LTEs are required to follow all scripts, policies and procedures provided to them, and comply with training regarding confidential information related to personal information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Conduct disease interviews with positive cases.
  • Refer and/or call contacts of newly diagnosed patients.
  • Communicate with contacts in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Collect and record information on symptoms.
  • Provide contacts with approved information about procedures and resources, and if appropriate, refer them to testing according to protocol and/or to other agencies for community resources.
  • Follow the script to inform positives cases and close contacts about the importance of isolation/quarantine and what to do if symptoms develop.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations for facility management of COVID-19 based on current recommendations and protocols.
  • A telephone, computer, and electronic equipment will be provided.
  • Maintain daily contact with supervisor and/or lead nurse.
    Other Duties
  • Complete required training; participate in meetings and webinars as assigned.
  • Reports to work as called 24/7 in a public health crisis or emergency and performs public health emergency response duties as assigned and consistent with training provided.
  • Participates in public health emergency response training and drills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
    Job Qualifications:
    Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years medical background and/or work experience, preference will be given to applicants with registered nurse credentials.
  • Experience and familiarity with local public health departments and with Wisconsin health care preferred.
  • Ability to work remotely, with existing high-speed internet connection, in an interruption free environment.
  • Available to work minimum of 25 hours per week, includes weekends.
  • Ability to exhibit a professional, positive attitude, and work ethic.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required and ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress is essential.
  • Ability to show empathy to distressed individuals.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write Englishsecond or multiple languages a plus.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism, and abide by all HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently complete data entry.
  • Proficiency with computers necessary.
  • Familiarity with geography (cities/towns/locations) required.
